Dr. Jim Lane, M.D.
Jim has recently retired from his family practice in Port Coquitlam. He has been involved in medical politics for over twenty years. He has served on numerous committees within British Columbia Medical Association and government committees on health care issues. These have included the BCMA’s presidency in 1998-99 and the Chair of the Council of Health Promotion from 1999-2002.
He has served on the Canadian Medical Association Board and has been their Honorary Treasurer and executive member for four years. He has been involved in many of the political and ethical debates within health care. Jim is presently serving on the Board of the Catholic Health Association of B.C. He is President of the UBC Medical Alumni Association. He is President of the Catholic Physicians Guild of Vancouver.
In the last three years both he and his wife Mary Ann have been doing volunteering work with Medical Aid for Vietnam. He just finished his 4th mission to Vietnam in Feb. Jim and Mary Ann live in Coquitlam. They have five grown children and six grandchildren. Both are looking forward to retirement.
